The future of women and wellness is bright, even if the current climate seems bleak at times. On Wednesday, September 30, professionals, educators, advocates, and enthusiasts alike will convene for the virtual Women in Plant Medicine Summit, presented by the groups Women Empowered in Cannabis (WEiC) and Tokeativity via their joint event venture Haus of Jane, for a day filled with panels, networking, and entertainment meant to “foster conversation, establish unity among women in the industry and inform with real, raw presentations on science, policy and what it means to be a woman working in stigmatized plant medicines.”
The online event will feature dozens of live speakers from across the cannabis, hemp, and psychedelics spaces, along with programming in seven unique tracks: business, executive, plant medicine, supply chain, policy and activism, self-care, and the aptly-timed COVID, a track to explore the ways in which the markets have shifted as a result of the ongoing pandemic. Participants will be able to engage with presenters in real-time, a departure from many of the web-based events sprouting up. Speed networking, virtual seshes, cannabis yoga, an expo floor, and live entertainment by DJ Frenchie will round out the day.
“We realized COVID was not going away and that there was not going to be any large event for women in the industry this year,” explained WEiC Founder, Kyra Reed. “We worked really hard to bring the community the closest thing to an in-person experience as possible.”
Reed and Haus of Jane Co-founder, Lisa Snyder of Tokeativity, have developed the Women in Plant Medicine Summit to continue their mission of connecting females in the cannabis and psychedelics industries in inclusive and inspirational ways to form a unified voice for the future.
“I’m looking forward to this event and am honored to participate,” said keynote speaker Stormy Simon. “Even virtually, gathering with the women of this industry has always been a true privilege.”
Fellow speaker Jennifer Whetzel, founder of LadyJane Branding, agrees. She will be sharing insights from the Women in Cannabis Study, which Whetzel believes will be in-line with the Summit ethos.
“I’m excited for the opportunity to share some of our final results, which show that women definitely face significant barriers to success in the industry, which is exactly the type of discussion we should be having at an event such as this,” she noted. “One way for us to help navigate those barriers is to support each other. The study also shows that networking, making connections and introductions, and supporting other women-owned businesses are key to allyship — something this Summit definitely promotes.”
Other speakers include Scheril Murray Powell, Esq. of Green Sustainable Strong, Karson Humiston of Vangst, Madison Margolin of DoubleBlind Magazine, Zoe Helene of Cosmic Sisters, Maureen McNamara of Cannabis Trainers, and dozens more. The event will be emceed by Haus of Jane favorite, MsKindness, CEO of Club Kindness.
“This is for women working in plant medicine, sharing their research, sharing their ceremony — we want to invite anyone in the realm to join this sisterhood,” Reed said.
