The walls of cannabis prohibition are crumbling before our very eyes and the cannabis community is at a crossroads.
With so many challenges to sort out, what happens now is going to dictate whether the cannabis industry becomes a special, socially responsible industry, or just another large industry driven by corporate greed.
We cannot let the latter happen.
This is just one of the reasons why Green Flower remains committed to imbuing cannabis entrepreneurs with the education and training they need to thrive in this industry.
And now, Trailblazers, a revolutionary cannabis company is stepping up and joining the ranks to help lead the charge by bringing together the most brilliant minds in the cannabis community to collaborate on ways to help the cannabis industry reach its full potential.
What is Trailblazers?
One of the founders of Trailblazers, Tyler Wakstein, saw a need in the cannabis industry to bring together community leaders from all types of backgrounds to a setting that was conducive to effective brainstorming and collaboration. His thesis was there are more opportunities to collaborate than compete if you can align yourself with the right people. After all, you are who you surround yourself with in everything that you do.
After months of reaching out to cannabis leaders, Trailblazers hosted their first retreat at Powder Mountain in Eden, Utah, in March 2019.
The retreat was attended by over 150 leading cannabis executives, scientists, investors, and policymakers and provided an invaluable experience for attendees.
This gathering served as a think tank, working on ways to help ensure that the future cannabis industry will be the best it can be. If you’re curious, here’s a blog post on why Tyler originally started it.
What does Trailblazers believe in?
Trailblazers believes that the cannabis industry should be based on the principles of conscious capitalism. The cannabis industry can and always must go above and beyond to help make the world a better place.
Below is an excerpt from Trailblazers’s ethos:
-
- We recognize the work that came before us.
-
- We believe in the collective responsibility that comes with ushering in the new era of cannabis.
-
- We understand there is always room for improvement.
-
- We serve the plant, the planet, and each other.
-
- We support research and education to better understand the plant.
-
- We believe equality, social equity, and justice are not just something to pay lip service to, but rather the cost of entry into cannabis or hemp at large.
-
- We see a future of unbound opportunity, fueled by positive social change.
Every one of those points is something that every cannabis community member, especially cannabis industry members, ought to fully embrace. These values are why Green Flower is so excited to partner with Trailblazers.
What else does Trailblazers do beyond retreats?
In addition to their retreats, Trailblazers also offers a fellowship program that is designed to help empower the next generation of change-makers and emerging leaders in cannabis.
The fellowship program is a growing network of cannabis industry leaders and provides an invaluable opportunity to learn from others, engage in mentorship, and impact the future of the cannabis industry in a positive way. If this sounds like a jump you want to make, you can learn more and apply here.
After its second successful retreat, Trailblazers partnered with the Wholistic Research and Education Foundation, a leading public non-profit that is dedicated to helping fund cannabis research. To date, Wholistic has donated over $5.5 million dollars to advance science and research in cannabis.
The next Trailblazer retreat is scheduled for March 13-15, 2020.
